Guidelines for Submission of Oral & Poster Abstracts

  • The primary author and presenter of any abstract for the ASDS Educational Program must be an ASDS member in full-time private or academic practice, a board-certified dermatologist in a full-time private or academic practice, or a resident in an approved dermatology training program. For dermatologists seeking information or assistance, please contact Janine Wisniewski at jwisniewski@asds.net. Inquiries on submitting commercially sponsored poster abstracts, please contact Dana Brown at dbrown@asds.net.

  • All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the online abstract system.

  • In order to include as many unique presenters as possible, we are limiting the number of abstract submissions to three per person. Only the first three abstracts submitted will be reviewed and eligible for acceptance

  • Please do not include industry, trade or product names in your abstract title or content. Generic terms should be used instead of trade names. Any trade names will be changed to their generic or component name. The use of company or product names as a means for promotion/advertising is strictly prohibited.

  • All abstract sections must be completed for consideration, including the four components of the abstract body (purpose, design, summary and conclusion). The abstracts should be as informative as possible.

  • All abstract submitters are required to complete a full disclosure indicating relationships that they, their spouse/partner or any secondary authors have with commercial entities producing health goods or services within the last three years as well as an Attestation regarding our resolution of conflict of interest policy. Should a relationship be determined to be a potential conflict of interest as it relates to the topic(s) submitted for CME activity, you will be notified to discuss resolution if it is determined a conflict does exist. Any identified conflict(s) of interest must be resolved prior to confirmation of the abstract presenter’s participation. Abstracts with unresolved conflict(s) of interest will not be placed on the final program. All financial relationships must be disclosed and communicated to the attendees from the podium for oral abstracts or via a portion of the graphics for poster abstracts. All oral abstract presenters will be required to use a “disclosure slide” after their title slide to disclose interests with manufacturer(s) of any commercial product and/or provider of commercial services in their presentations.

  • Due to the size and time demands of the ASDS Annual Meeting, it is not possible to guarantee time for all abstracts. Priority will be given to work that is original and has not been presented or previously submitted at a national dermatology-related meeting. Final disposition of your abstract, should it be accepted, is at the discretion of the ASDS Annual Meeting Work Group. Only abstracts on completed research will be considered.

  • All accepted oral abstracts must be produced (PowerPoint slides, etc.) and presented by the primary author. Commercial involvement in the production or presentation of an accepted oral abstract is prohibited.

  • All accepted oral and poster abstract presenters must be a paid registered attendee of the ASDS Annual Meeting.

  • Accepted oral abstracts with the highest ratings may be placed in conjunction with same topic large general sessions for additional exposure.

    • Abstracts may be reprinted in other media provided the following requirements are satisfied:

      • The Dermatologic Surgery journal has the right of first refusal for any full manuscript on an abstract accepted for presentation during the ASDS Annual Meeting.

      • Reuse of any accepted abstract by other than the abstract author(s) or ASDS may be done only with written permission from all authors to the intended reuse entity.

      • Citation under abstract must read as follows: “Used with permission from all abstract authors and reprinted from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (YEAR) Annual Meeting Program Book”
